EXO's Chen finally officially made a comeback through their third mini album titled Last Scene on Monday, November 14 2022 at 18.00 local time. EXO's Chen did not appear directly, instead he presented a music video concept in a cinematic style like a scene from a South Korean drama. The music video, which lasts about four minutes and thirty seconds, features South korean actor Pak Hae Soo and actress Hwang Se-on as the main characters.
Accompanied by Chen's melodious voice, as well as piano accompaniment and beautiful string sounds, the 'Last Scene' music video successfully makes you drift into the sadness felt by the two main characters in the music video. Throughout the video, actor Park Hae Soo is seen driving a car through the city.
His facial expression depicts someone who is reminiscing and looking for traces of past memories with loved ones. Meanwhile, actress Hwang Se-on was seen walking on the beach which was getting dark against the background of the sun that was almost setting. Holding the same sadness, he seemed to shed tears in one of the scenes.
The song 'Last Scene' itself is a ballad genre song with the theme of a broken heart, and trying to move on from a past relationship. In the live broadcast of 'Countdown Live Last Scene,' Chen EXO revealed the reason why he chose to show a music video with a drama concept. According to him, the emotion of the song 'Last Scene' must be conveyed well, and he needed an actor to express that.
Chen also admitted that he greatly admired actor Park Hae Soo's acting, who was also one of the actors in the hit series ' Squid Game .' "I'm a fan of actor Park Hae Soo. I really like his facial expressions and acting. So, I hope he can appear in my music video. He happily accepts, and we finally work together.
