A number of top South Korean actors are being investigated for alleged tax evasion. After Lee Byung Hun to Kim Tae Hee, actor Lee Min Ho also underwent an examination. First reported by Aju News, the investigation department of the Seoul tax service office investigated irregular tax payments against Lee Min Ho and his agency, MYM Entertainment. The investigation was carried out in September 2020.
At that time, Lee Min Ho and the agency had to pay hundreds of millions of Won in fines. The actor was also accused of tax evasion. Regarding the news circulating, MYM Entertainment opened his voice. They denied that Lee Min Ho had committed tax evasion. "We want to make a statement to correct reports relating to us and artists from our agency," said MYM Entertainment.
"The agency and Lee Min Ho have paid taxes obediently, and there has never been a single unpleasant incident related to paying taxes," he explained. MYM Entertainment also explained the situation in which the agency and Lee Min Ho had to pay a fine. They said the problem occurred because of differences in interpretation between the artist and the agency.
"The current situation is a problem that has arisen due to different interpretations of whether issues related to 'compensation for losses caused by the use of illegal portrait rights' are taxable or not," said MYM Entertainment. "The fee paid is an additional tax fee determined due to an accounting error in the process of handling company costs. In this regard, we have paid in full. Thank you," he concluded.
