Ong Seong Wu has just announced his military enlistment schedule. The former WANNA ONE member will carry out his obligations for approximately 18 months starting April 2023. The announcement was delivered directly by Fantagio as management. To WELO (Ong Seong Wu fans), they revealed that the idol would start military service as an active soldier on April 17, 2023.
Before officially serving as a soldier, Ong Seong Wu will first undergo basic training at a predetermined location. "While giving thanks to WELO who have provided support and love to artists at our agency, Ong Seong Wu, we also want to provide details regarding Ong Seong Wu's military service," Fantagio opened.
"Ong Seong Wu will begin basic military training on April 17, 2023 at the training center, then will undergo military service as an active soldier," he continued. Fantagio also emphasized that they would not hold a farewell event at the training location for Ong Seong Wu . This is done so that there are no traffic jams or other unwanted things at the location.
"No special events will be held on military service day to reduce congestion at the location. As is well known, the acceptance ceremony for military members at the training center is a closed event attended by the families of the soldiers, so we hope fans will not attend," said Fantagio. "We expect warm support from WELO for Ong Seong Wu who will return in good health after completing his military duties," he concluded.
Ong Seong Wu achieved success after debuting in WANNA ONE after participating in the survival show, Produce 101. After his one-year contract with WANNA ONE expired, he is more active as an actor.
