Bad news came from one of the idols made by SM Entertainment, Red Velvet's Wendy. Through Kwangya Club on May 10, 2023 at 15.00 KST, SM Entertainment stated that Wendy had just tested positive for Covid-19. "Hello. Today, Wendy has experienced unusual symptoms and immediately underwent a rapid antigen test.
The test results confirmed the diagnosis of COVID-19," wrote SM Entertainment opening the announcement. Responding to the test results, Wendy was forced to do quarantine and personal care at home, and was unable to participate in group activities with other Red Velvet members.
"Currently, Wendy has suspended all schedules and is self-isolating and receiving treatment at home," the agency continued to explain. Apart from group activities, Wendy is also unable to participate in her own program as a DJ on "Wendy's Young Street" which is broadcast daily by SBS at 18.00 WIB. "Therefore, I inform you that Wendy will not be able to attend "Wendy's Young Street"."
Meanwhile, Red Velvet itself is currently holding their world concert tour titled 'R to V' since early 2023 which started in South Korea and will continue in 8 other countries, including Indonesia on May 20 2023 at ICE BSD. Wendy is also the second member to be absent from the Red Velvet group after previously Joy announced the same thing due to a health problem she was currently experiencing.
This bad news from Wendy was immediately bombarded by various responses from Red Velvet fans who are usually called Reveluv via social media Twitter, which began to be filled with hashtags #Wendy since the news was successfully published. The fans are concerned and pray that the 29-year-old woman will recover soon and rejoin Red Velvet.
SM Entertainment itself will ensure that its artists receive the best care and service to recover Wendy's condition as soon as possible. "We will do our best to fully comply with quarantine guidelines and focus on recovery by considering the health and safety of our artists as the top priority. Thank you," concluded SM Entertainment ending his statement.
