The youngest member of girl group KARA, Youngji, will officially debut as a solo singer this summer. Reporting from KBIZoom June 3, 2023, according to a report by My Daily on June 3, 2023, Youngji has confirmed that he will be making his official debut as a solo singer after 9 years of career in the music industry as a member of KARA.
Although Youngji once released his self-composed song "Memory Clock" in 2017, this upcoming moment will be his first official debut as a solo artist, making the songstress very excited. Youngji recently joined KARA's 15th anniversary album promotions in November last year and made the group's comeback successful not only in Korea, but also in Japan.
On the sidelines of promotions with KARA, Youngji was also lucky because he gained momentum for her solo debut. Ahead of his solo promotions, Youngji will be holding a solo fanmeeting in Tokyo, Japan and starting various activities. Meanwhile, Youngji, whose full name is Heo Young Ji, joined KARA in 2014 and made his debut through the 6th mini album titled "Day & Night".
Youngji joined as a member after Nicole and Kang Jiyoung left KARA. At that time, DSP Media launched a reality TV show titled "KARA Project" which involved seven trainees competing with each other to become new members of KARA. Youngji managed to occupy the top spot according to the voting even though he missed two appearances due to a foot injury.
However, the audience was so enthralled by his performance that he emerged victorious and succeeded in becoming a new member of KARA. Youngji once revealed that after officially becoming a member of KARA, he had to memorize dances to more than 30 of KARA's songs in a short period of time because he had to go on a concert tour.
Since joining KARA, Youngji has been active in various fields, including MC and acting. She has starred in several South Korean drama titles, including "Another Miss Oh" (2016), "My Shy Boss" (2017), "Are You Human?" (2018), "The Beauty Inside" (2018), and "At Eighteen" (2019).
