After a long hiatus from group activities, SM Entertainment's agency officially announced that Lucas is leaving NCT and WayV. The decision was announced by the agency through a written statement uploaded via social media on Wednesday May 10, 2023.
The announcement comes after months of speculation regarding the idol's status with the group. "After the discussions we had with Lucas, we made a joint decision to part ways with the NCT group and Way to pursue his personal business," SM Entertainment said, quoted by Koreaboo on Wednesday May 10, 2023.
"We ask for your understanding and support as this is a decision taken after considering many things from the members and all the fans who have been supportive," SM Entertainment added. SM Entertainment also added that Lucas will continue to work individually.
"Once again, we sincerely appreciate the love and support poured out from all fans and ask for your continued support and interest in the future," he added. Earlier in 2021, Lucas was hit by a gaslighting scandal or mental and emotional abuse to his ex-girlfriend and often stayed at hotels paid for by his ex.
