SM Entertainment released a statement regarding Lucas' status as a member of NCT. After a long hiatus from promotion, the agency declared Lucas leaving WayV and NCT which oversaw him in the entertainment industry. On Wednesday, May 10, SM Entertainment uploaded a statement in Korean, English and Chinese.
They also explained Lucas' plans after leaving the NCT unit and group. "This is SM Entertainment. We would like to make an announcement regarding Lucas' upcoming plans," SM Entertainment said today via its official social media. "After discussions with Lucas, we reached an agreement to part ways with NCT and WayV to focus on his activities," the agency said.
"We ask for understanding and support as this decision was taken after consideration between the members and also the supportive fans," he explained. They appreciate and support Lucas who will start his career solo. Concluding his letter, SM Entertainment thanked fans for their support of Lucas.
"Lucas plans to show his performance through various individual activities from now on. Once again, we thank you for the love and support from fans and ask for support going forward, thank you," SM Entertainment concluded. Lucas was last embroiled in controversy in August 2021.
Several women claiming to be his ex-lovers claimed Lucas' actions amounted to gaslighting. At that time, Lucas wrote an apology along with the agency announcing Lucas' hiatus to reflect on his past actions. Lucas is part of SM Rookies and officially debuted in 2018 with NCT's 2018 album Empathy.
He performed songs for NCT you and WayV. In 2019 he also joined as a member of SuperM to promote in the American market. Meanwhile, SM Entertainment did not explain Lucas' status as a member of SuperM until now. Lucas was also absent from NCT's promotional activities as well as WayV who were on a fan meeting tour.
