One of the members of the boy group Super Junior, Siwon, has just been appointed as an adviser to the South Korean Anti-Drug Association. Reporting from the Korea JoongAng Daily on Friday July 21, 2023, the reason for appointing Siwon as an anti-drug adviser was assessed because this figure has a good and honest personality.
"Celebrities and well-known figures who are involved in the use of illegal drugs can make teenagers imitate these actions, and this can become a problem in our society," said Choi Phil-yeo, chairman of the Korea Association Against Drug Abuse, quoted from the Korea JoongAng Daily.
"I am happy that Choi Si-won is a good and honest artist. Now (Siwon) sits at the forefront of the battle against illegal drugs," he said again. In carrying out his new duties, the owner of the real name Choi Si-won will play an active role in providing information regarding prevention as well as the harmful effects of drug use.
"I will actively participate in various public relations projects with the Korea Anti-Drug Campaign Headquarters in the future to inform youth about the correct information and harmful effects of drugs. As well as play a role in preventing drug abuse," said Siwon, reported by Naver.
Previously, Siwon had just been assigned as the Promotional Ambassador for 50 years of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Indonesia. The appointment of Siwon himself was chosen directly by Minister Park Jin. The coronation ceremony took place at the Seo Hee Hall of the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 10.
With the presence of Siwon as an ambassador of friendship, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sulis, hopes that friendly relations between Indonesia and South Korea can be strengthened. Not only Siwon, Dita Karang from Secret Number was also appointed as a spokesperson for 50 years of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Indonesia.
Siwon is already known to be active in various social activities. In 2010, he even joined many UNICEF campaigns. Thanks to his contribution, Siwon was selected as the special representative of the South Korea committee for UNICEF in 2015. Recently, the musician is showing his acting talent in the Netflix Korean drama Bloodhounds.
