The Korean drama Shadow Detective 2 marked Lee Sung Min's comeback after starring in Reborn Rich. Last November, the veteran actor appeared charismatic as the CEO of Sunyang Group and the 'grandfather' of Song Joong Ki. Thanks to his appearance in the Korean drama Reborn Rich, Lee Sung Min won the Best Actor award from the 2023 Baeksang Arts Awards.
Now he is incarnated as a detective in the Korean drama Shadow Detective 2. Shadow Detective 2 is being worked on following the success of the first season which premiered last October on Disney+ Hotstar. With a total of eight episodes, the Korean drama Shadow Detective 2 will air every Wednesday after airing its first episode today, Wednesday July 5, 2023.
The first season of Shadow Detective 2 follows the story of Kim Tae Rok (played by Lee Sung Min), a homicide detective assigned to the Geumo Police Station. Kim Tae Rok is a veteran detective with over 30 years of experience. During that time he also experienced anxiety disorders due to the pressure of his work.
Kim Tae Rok will blame himself if something goes wrong because of his work style. While Kim Tae Rok was waiting for his retirement, Kook Jin Han (played by Jin Goo) was transferred to the Geumo Police Station and got the position of head of the investigation team. Shortly after that, Kim Tae Rok received a mysterious phone call from someone claiming to be his old friend.
The caller threatened that he would kill Kim Tae Rok's colleague, Woo Hyun Seok. The caller even asked the people around him to find out about Kim Tae Rok's past mistakes. At first Kook Jin Han suspected Kim Tae Rok of being Woo Hyun Seok's killer.
But she started to take his side and believed that Kim Tae Rok was innocent. The first season of Shadow Detective 2 ends with a plot twist. Kook Jin Han was revealed as the killer of Woo Hyun Seok and was shot dead by an unknown person. This made Kim Tae Rok feel another regret.
Synopsis Shadow Detective 2 will follow the counterattack of Kim Tae Rok who returns to hunt down the blackmailer. However, Jin Goo did not return to star in the second season of Shadow Detective 2. Apart from Lee Sung Min, fans can look forward to the appearances of Lee Hak Joo (My Name), Kyung Soo Jin (Mouse), and Kim Shin Rok (Hellbound).
