Some time ago, RIIZE's Seunghan was involved in a controversy after a photo was spread of him with his ex-girlfriend. The photo shows the two kissing and allegedly located in a hotel. Apart from confusing his fans regarding the photos circulating, various oblique rumors also hit Seunghan ahead of his debut, such as violence, promiscuity, blackmail, to forced abortions on his ex-girlfriend.
Even though they have released an official apology, it seems that fans are already disappointed with the controversy, especially since the negative news is circulating ahead of RIIZE's debut on Monday September 4, 2023 and is feared to affect the group's image even before it officially debuts.
On Friday September 1, 2023, a number of fans raised funds to rent a protesting truck, to demand Seunghan's dismissal from RIIZE. The protest truck was sent to the SM Entertainment building in Seongsu-dong and displayed messages such as, " Obstacles for liking RIIZE, bully member Hong Seung Han, take responsibility and get out ", " What is SM 3.0?
The era of embracing bully members! ", " Hong Seung Han is out ", and other similar messages. Seeing the protest truck, some netizens expressed their disapproval of the action and made various comments. " That's not the opinion of all RIIZE fans, only some people are selfish, " wrote one netizen as quoted from Allkpop on Friday September 1, 2023. “ Stop wasting money.
This protest truck is just a way to vent your anger in an unsightly way, " said another netizen. " Demanding him to leave the group even before his debut is outrageous. Technically, he is a victim of an invasion of privacy, " another netizen chimed in. " It may be true that he will be a hindrance to some fans who are interested in RIIZE.
But fans can't control all these problems obsessively, " wrote another netizen. “ The people running these protests are not fans. They are just looking for someone to attack, ” another netizen responded. Meanwhile, SM Entertainment as RIIZE's agency has confirmed that they will process illegal actions in the form of spreading personal photos of their artists and will take them to legal action.
