In the last month, the issue of extending BLACKPINK's contract with YG Entertainment has continued to be discussed. Even though a legal expert predicted that they would continue the contract, the final decision has not yet been taken by each BLACKPINK member, including Lisa.
BLACKPINK's exclusive contract with YG Entertainment ended on August 7, 2023. Until now, the discussion process regarding contract extension is still ongoing. Recently there has been widespread news that BLACKPINK's Lisa rejected YG Entertainment's offer to continue her contract even though she was offered a fantastic price.
Many also speculate that Lisa does not want to extend her contract with YG Entertainment. Lisa's very large fanbase in China is also busy discussing this issue. YG Entertainment is now speaking out. They don't want the wild ball regarding Lisa's contract speculation to get confusing.
In their statement, they stated that until now they were still continuing discussions with Lisa. "Lisa's contract renewal is still being discussed," they said in a statement quoted from TV Report on Saturday September 16, 2023. Regarding the news that Lisa refused to accept a contract worth billions from YG Entertainment, management refused to provide clarification.
"None of these rumors have been confirmed," they continued. Last August, an expert predicted that BLACKPINK would extend their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment. This is because there are already many official schedules for BLACKPINK's activities even after the contract ends. Referring to that, we can be sure that there will be no problems regarding the contract extension.
This was revealed by Lee Hwa Jung, an analyst from NH Investment & Securities. He also highlighted how YG Entertainment moved quickly to deny the issue of Lisa not renewing her contract when the news emerged recently. "BLACKPINK's contract will end on August 7, 2023, but they are scheduled to appear in Los Angeles on August 26, 2023.
There are also events that are in the process of discussion for them to attend in September and beyond. All of this is actively being carried out by YG representing BLACKPINK," said Lee Hwa Jung. "Indeed, until now there has been no confirmation from YG, but we feel there is no reason BLACKPINK should not extend the contract with YG at this time," he concluded.
