With this new achievement, Greta Gerwig as the director of Barbie is said to have set a new record as the first female director to get the biggest box office opening in the history of Hollywood cinema.

Gerwig managed to beat the record of Patty Jenkins who worked on the Wonder Woman film in 2017. The film also earned a box office profit of US$103 million in its first week. Through the film Barbie, other films made by Greta Gerwig are also known to have lost in winning the domestic box office in their opening weekend.

Barbie beat Lady Bird (2017) which earned US$364 thousand, and Little Women (2019) with US$16.8 in its debut week. Barbie is the latest film from the talented hands of Greta Gerwig after the director successfully worked on his last film through Little Women in 2019. Through the Barbie film, Greta Gerwig also collaborated with her partner, Noah Baumbach, who sat as a scriptwriter. 

Barbie succeeded in bringing up social stories about women who were able to make the audience amazed by the message that the film was trying to convey. The film, which was also played by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, also received praise from critics and netizens after presenting a colorful visual design that spoils the eyes.
