It's been almost eleven months since BTS member Jin registered for his mandatory military service. Although fans have only seen glimpses of his life as a soldier, a recent post on an online community called theqoo provided some detailed updates regarding his current location and activities.

On November 8, 2023, a post titled The Beautiful Genie Who Bought Us Food gained significant attention in the online community. The person who shared the image, known as the OP (Original poster i.e. the person who posted it first), claimed to be a relative of one of Jin's fellow BTS soldiers and provided some insight into the BTS member.

The OP stated that their nephew, who had just completed military service , revealed that Jin consistently bought food for all the soldiers in his unit. More precisely, they say that the Astronaut singer uses his funds to buy food from food trucks for his much younger fellow soldiers every weekend.

Apart from that, OP also confirmed his credibility by sharing a photo of himself attending his nephew's completion ceremony on the community page. They also mentioned that the Epiphany singer's generous act had resulted in his fellow soldiers affectionately giving him the nickname the Beautiful Genie Who Bought Us Food.

This nickname is a clever play on the title of the Korean series Something In The Rain, whose Korean translation is Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food. This reflects fellow soldiers' appreciation for Jin's kind and caring nature during his current military service.

BTS' Jin is currently carrying out his military duties as an assistant instructor in the Fifth Infantry Division located in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do. In particular, he has earned the prestigious title of Special Class Elite Warrior, highlighting his extraordinary physical abilities and strength.

The idol released his successful solo song, The Astronaut, in collaboration with Coldplay, on October 28, 2022, before his mandatory military service. As the song marked its first anniversary, fans from all over the world celebrated through charity events, and Jin became a trending topic on various social media platforms.

On the same day, Coldplay expressed its gratitude on its social media channels, extending thanks to BTS' oldest members, HER, and Golshifteh for their participation in a concert held in Buenos Aires in 2022, celebrating the event's first anniversary. They also showed their appreciation to their fans and everyone who watched the concert film. Fans can anticipate Jin's discharge from the military on June 12, 2024.
