It was rumored that BLACKPINK's Jennie would form her own management or agency after her contract with YG Entertainment ended. Now BLACKPINK's contract with management has been officially extended, but apparently Jennie's plans to create her own management are continuing.
On Sunday December 24, 2023, Jennie officially announced the agency named OA (ODD ATELIER). The You & Me singer made the announcement via his official Instagram account. "Hello, this is Jennie. This year has been filled with various achievements and I am very grateful for the love I have received," said Jennie opening her announcement.
"I am also very excited about what will happen next, especially since I will start my journey in 2024 with my own management that I founded called OA. Please show lots of love for my new beginning with OA and of course BLACKPINK, thank you," continued Jennie.
Through OA, Jennie will carry out personal activities outside of BLACKPINK. This includes activities as a singer, actress, model and brand ambassador. Meanwhile, YG Entertainment will arrange Jennie's schedule when she only has activities with BLACKPINK.
Along with the official announcement of the launch of OA management, Jennie uploaded a series of new photos for her management profile. The vintage style photo shows Jennie's charm which always stands out as usual. On the other hand, YG Entertainment announced the extension of BLACKPINK's contract on Wednesday, December 6 2023.
In its statement, the agency which also just debuted BABYMONSTER mentioned the 'mutual trust' between them and the BLACKPINK members. "After a series of very careful discussions with BLACKPINK, we have signed an exclusive contract for group activities based on deep mutual trust," said YG in his official statement.
Yang Hyun Suk also spoke up. The producer who is familiarly called Papa YG admitted that he was happy with the decision of Rosé, Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo to extend their contracts with them. Through this new beginning, YG Entertainment will continue to make BLACKPINK shine on the global music scene.
They also promised support for BLACKPINK until the end. "We are very happy to be able to continue our working relationship with BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK will continue to do our best to shine brighter in the global music market as musicians who not only represent our agency, but also K-Pop.
And we will continue to provide unwavering support for their steps in the future," said Yang Hyun Suk. With the extension of BLACKPINK's contract, the quartet will continue to release new works as a group. Will also plan another world tour as has been done for the past few years.
