Returning to the music industry, Lee Soo Man reportedly registered a new trademark. Reported by South Korean media My Daily on Wednesday May 22, 2024, the former SM Entertainment executive producer has applied for a trademark for the new entertainment company 'A20 Entertainment'.
According to information from KIPRIS (Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service), Lee Soo Man has applied for the trademark 'A20 Entertainment' on May 3 in the name of Blooming Grace, his personal company.
The 'A20 Entertainment' trademark is predicted to be intended for categories that enable entertainment and advertising business activities. The media outlet that reported it revealed that Blooming Grace had registered trademarks in various product categories including Classes 09, 25, 28, 35, 36, 38, 39, 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45.
These categories include the entertainment industry, video game devices, advertising, real estate, recorded and downloaded media, animal care consulting services, clothing, transportation industry, design, food and beverage supply, medical, and legal services.
Currently, the status of the trademark is still in the registration process and has not yet been completed. This news immediately attracted public attention in South Korea, considering Lee Soo Man's status, which is still not allowed to work in his country.
Lee Soo Man accepted this limitation on the basis of a share sale and purchase agreement with HYBE LABELS last year to avoid anti-competitive clauses. Lee Soo Man is only allowed to do production work overseas and not in Korea for the next three years.
Through this agreement, Lee Soo Man is also prohibited from employing SM Entertainment employees or signing contracts with SM Entertainment artists. Previously, in March last year, Lee Soo Man had left SM Entertainment due to a dispute regarding management rights. It is still unknown whether Lee Soo Man will participate in the management of A20 Entertainment or not.
It will be necessary to wait another two years to find out whether he will work again as a new entertainment representative and producer in South Korea. Currently, Lee Soo Man has not yet founded a new entertainment company in South Korea. Blooming Grace is a company founded by Lee Soo Man which works on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) projects.
