South Korean actor Park Sung Hoon recently discussed himself playing evil characters in the Korean dramas ' Queen of Tears ' and ' The Glory '. After 'Queen of Tears' ended, Park Sung Hoon admitted that the popularity of the drama and its characters were far above his expectations.

“I think viewers will enjoy it considering it is the creation of screenwriter Park Ji Eun. The script is good, and I'm confident in the casting. However, it still exceeded expectations, getting more love than I imagined," said Park Sung Hoon as quoted by Soompi on Tuesday May 21, 2024.

In 'Queen of Tears', Park Sung Hoon plays the evil character Yoon Eun Sung. One of the risks of playing an antagonist is bad comments made by the public. However, even though his character is evil, Park Sung Hoon admits that he has empathy for Yoon Eun Sung. “Personally, because I empathize with Eun Sung, I feel a mixture of bitterness and pity, even though his actions crossed the line.

Seeing Hae In and Hyun Woo's happy ending, I felt moved and grateful," he said. He also admitted that he cried during the scene where Baek Hyun Woo said goodbye to Hong Hae In at the end of the drama. Next, Park Sung Hoon revealed the differences between the characters Jeon Jae Joon in 'The Glory' and Yoon Eun Sung in 'Queen of Tears'.

According to Park Sung Hoon, Jeon Jae Joon's style tends to be flamboyant, while Yoon Eun Sung's style is more formal and calm. In terms of speaking intonation, Jeon Jae Joon uses a high tone and firm intonation, while Yoon Eun Sung prefers a low voice to control emotions.

The actor continued, “In moments of anger, Jeon Jae Joon shows his dominance with a sharp tone and raised voice, while Yoon Eun Sung maintains a calm demeanor, focusing on the depth of expression.” When choosing a drama or film project to star in, Park Sung Hoon has criteria, namely that it must be entertaining.

“I believe this should be fun. Whether it's a comedy or a heartwarming drama, it's sure to entertain across genres. "This is not only for our own enjoyment, but must be acceptable to a wide audience," he said. Meanwhile, Park Sung Hoon started his acting career with a small role in the film 'A Frozen Flower' in 2008.

Since then, he has been attracted to starring in a series of popular dramas, such as 'Mad Dog', 'My Only One', 'Psychopath Diary', 'Joseon Exorcist', 'The Kidnapping Day', 'Not Others', and many more. Park Sung Hoon is also part of the cast of the second season of the popular Netflix series, 'Squid Game', making his name shine even more globally.
