Although it has not been officially announced who will direct the next episodes, it has been confirmed that Jonathan van Tulleken will direct episodes 1 and 2.

Michael Green will be one of the executive producers on the series. He previously wrote the screenplay for the film Blade Runner 2049 and recently created the Netflix series Blue Eye Samurai. Not much details of the plot of Blade Runner 2099 have been revealed, but what is certain is that the story will take place 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049.

In this series, we will be faced with more of the philosophical and ethical questions that have been at the heart of the Blade Runner saga . Additionally, the series will explore a new side of the relationship between humans and replicants in a future society. The film Blade Runner (1982) was adapted from the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick.

Harrison Ford was appointed to play Rick Deckard who is tasked with pursuing a group of advanced replicants led by Roy Batty. Then, it continues in Blade Runner 2049 (2017) directed by Denis Villeneuve. These two films both explore artificial intelligence ( AI ) and advanced technology. In fact, this franchise also launched its anime version through Blade Runner Black Out 2022 and Blade Runner: Black Lotus.
