The Eras Tour reportedly set a record as the first tour in history to earn US$2 billion. The news was conveyed after Taylor Swift finished her concert tour series in Vancouver, Canada, on Sunday December 8, 2024.

As reported by Variety, the revenue came from the sale of 10,168,008 tickets at 149 concerts held on five continents. This revenue is double the initial estimate of the tour's revenue at the end of last year. The musician's company initially declined to report the number of attendees for the tour, which begins in March 2023.

However, several trade firms have estimated that the tour will exceed $2 billion. The Eras Tour could have actually earned even more considering that three concerts were canceled, including a performance in Vienna, Austria, after a group of terrorists were caught.

Variety explained that this achievement is quite fantastic considering that this income only comes from ticket sales, the prices of which do not apply a dynamic pricing sales system. With dynamic pricing, ticket prices can be many times more expensive because they follow the demand curve.

Because Taylor Swift did not use the system, Variety explained that the musician missed out on an opportunity to make more profit because the demand for The Eras Tour was very high at each concert. The Eras Tour is even one of two concerts in history to successfully surpass the US$1 billion mark, the other being Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour.

Coldplay also achieved the record in 2023 and has become the highest-grossing concert in history. Before Coldplay and Taylor Swift, the highest-grossing concert was Elton John with his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which grossed US$939 million over five years of shows.

On the other hand, according to reports from the New York Times and Variety, The Eras Tour concert with the most spectators was at the concert held at Wembley Stadium, London, with 753,112 people over four days. However, the largest audience attendance in a single day was at the Melbourne Cricket Ground concert on February 17, 2024, which reached 96,006 people in one night.
