SEVENTEEN is reportedly working with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO in establishing two community learning centers in East Timor. UNESCO's collaboration with the K-pop group aims to provide education for marginalized students. Titled the #Going Together campaign, the program has been running since August 2022.
This campaign also encourages local communities to participate in improving education through various useful activities. These learning centers are located in Oecusse and Manatuto and have been open since April 2024. There are various classes offered, ranging from sewing classes, Korean and English, to computer classes.
And there will be around 300 students selected to receive education at this learning place every year. "The center was built with donations from the #Going Together campaign," said Pledis Entertainment as the agency that oversees SEVENTEEN, reported by the Korea Times on Wednesday May 15, 2024.
Apart from that, the #Going Together campaign also presents other activities, such as donations from world tour revenues, as well as income obtained from sales of the font entitled BongBongee to support education costs in Malawi, Africa.
"We pledge to work as ambassadors for UNESCO to promote further awareness regarding the important challenges of our time." SEVENTEEN is a boy group from South Korea which consists of 13 talented men. They debuted with a mini album entitled 17 Carat in 2015 and have released a series of hit songs, such as HOT, Super, Darl+ing, and Very Nice.
