South Korean actor, Lee Jung Jae recently discussed his involvement in the series ' The Acolyte ' which is part of the ' Star Wars ' series. In the series 'The Acolyte', Lee Jung Jae plays the main role and is the first Asian actor to play a role in the 'Star Wars' series as a Jedi Master.
Lee Jung Jae plays Jedi Master Sol, who tracks a series of murders, dealing with everything from lightsaber action to the character's emotional changes. “Nothing has changed significantly since 'Squid Game'.
However, there are more projects overseas, expanding the reach of my work," said Lee Jung Jae as quoted by Allkpop on Wednesday June 5, 2024. He added, "Even if you've never watched the 'Star Wars' series before, the story doesn't drag on, which is an advantage to me being able to express myself more freely while acting.
The barrier to entry is low, allowing for easy and light engagement with the series." He revealed that this was the first time he had lived abroad for 10 months because of filming. Even though there was a bit of discomfort and difficulty, he tried to deepen the character well.
"One of the challenges is performing in English, which is not my first language. Problems with accent, pronunciation and intonation can cause miscommunication of expression," said Lee Jung Jae. Acting in English makes Lee Jung Jae put in more effort.
He also studied with two English teachers and started practicing four months earlier. "We combined in-person and Zoom training every day, which helped me get used to it or directing adjustments were needed, the production team understood, making it a fun filming experience," he said.
Even though he initially had many worries, Lee Jung Jae focused on immersing himself in the role of Jedi Master Sol. "I wanted to portray Sol as a warm character. The director wanted Sol to be respected for her warm heart, which naturally resonated with me, so I thought I should express a closer and deeper relationship with Osha," said Lee Jung Jae.
Meanwhile, 'The Acolyte' is a mystery action thriller series set in the golden age of the Jedi Order, involving a series of unprecedented Jedi murders and the emergence of dark forces behind the secrets and truths. The series will begin with the release of episodes 1 and 2 on June 5, and new episodes will be released every Wednesday on Disney+.
