NewJeans has earned a spot on the main US Billboard charts thanks to their latest album. According to Allkpop on Tuesday June 4, 2024, according to the latest Billboard chart rankings released on June 4, 2024 KST (covering the period May 24-30), NewJeans secured 7th position in the 'Global' category (excluding the US) with the title track of their double single "How Sweet."
Billboard reported that ""How Sweet" has amassed 42.8 million streams and more than 5,000 music sales (downloads) in just one week," further, Billboard stated, "This marks NewJeans' fifth song to enter the top 10 on global charts." Their song "Bubble Gum" also gained tremendous popularity and managed to secure the 18th position on the chart.
Surpassing 25 million streams and more than 4,000 music sales, the song even reached the charts at number 166 before its official release. The global charts serve as a reflection of Billboard's worldwide music market trends, ranking songs based on streaming and music sales in more than 200 territories globally, making them a significant indicator of global popularity.
In its home country, New Jeans continued to dominate the domestic major charts with "How Sweet" and "Bubble Gum" consistently holding No. 2 and No. 3 on platforms such as Melon, Bugs, and Flo. Under the auspices of the ADOR agency, NewJeans consists of five members, namely Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.
They made their debut as an idol group on July 22 2022 by releasing their first single entitled "Attention." NewJeans' debut single succeeded in becoming their first song to reach number one on the Circle Digital Chart in South Korea.
