The Seoul Yongsan Police Station reported that Suga was arrested for riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol. However, the police clarified that the vehicle Suga was riding was a scooter with a seat, not a regular electric scooter. "The vehicle that Suga rode while drunk has been classified as an electric scooter with a seat," the police said, as quoted by from Soompi on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Without realizing the short distance and the fact that electric scooters should not be used while under the influence of alcohol, I broke the road traffic laws. When I stopped the electric scooter in front of my house, I fell over myself, and because there were police officers around, I took a test and was given a ticket.
"Although there were no victims or damaged facilities in this incident, I acknowledge this mistake and apologize to everyone," wrote BTS's Suga in his apology statement, Thursday, August 8, 2024. After taking a breathalyser test, BTS's Suga was fined and his license was revoked.
