On Tuesday August 6, 2024, BTS's Suga reportedly fell while riding an electric scooter on Hannam-dong Street. Police are investigating Suga for suspected drunk driving. JTBC then caused a stir among netizens by releasing CCTV footage of a man riding an electric scooter at high speed across Nine One Hannam-dong, right after the police reported the incident involving Suga.
Netizens initially thought that the man in the CCTV footage released by JTBC was Suga. However, on Wednesday August 14, 2024, DongA Ilbo stated that the man in the footage uploaded by JTBC was not BTS's Suga. The next day, JTBC provided clarification regarding the viral CCTV video. Money Today's report also stated that JTBC had deleted the video.
"JTBC published CCTV footage of a scooter driving on the main road across from Nine One Hannam from the same time the police found Suga the next day. However, after the police investigated the route and so on, it was confirmed that the person driving the vehicle in the video was not Suga," JTBC said in a statement, citing AllKpop .
Meanwhile, Suga fell off an electric scooter on Wednesday August 6, 2024 at around 11:10 p.m. Korean time. Police on patrol found Suga and took him to check whether the BTS member was under the influence of alcohol.
The Yongsan Police Station then found that Suga's alcohol level reached 0.227 percent, based on the results of a breathalyzer test. That number is 7 times above the legal limit. Now, the police are working with Big Hit Music and the Military Manpower Administration to determine Suga's questioning schedule.
