Bangbae Police Station confirmed that it is investigating a case of alleged sexual crimes that also implicates Taeil, a former member of the boy group NCT. The police also denied reports that the alleged sexual crimes involved minors.
"This investigation is not related to the investigation of sexual crimes against minors of the same gender (as Taeil)," said the Bangbae Police Station, quoted from Chosun Ilbo on Wednesday August 28, 2024.
SM Entertainment as the agency first announced Taeil's resignation from NCT after allegations of sexual crimes involving the musician emerged. However, the agency did not reveal details regarding the chronology and details of the case.
"This is SM Entertainment. We have recently confirmed that Taeil is involved in a criminal case related to sexual crimes," SM Entertainment wrote via X or Twitter. "When we saw the situation, we realized that the problem was very serious, so we decided that Taeil could not continue group activities anymore," he continued.
In addition, the agency also confirmed that Taeil is currently undergoing police questioning due to the case. SM Entertainment ensures that the musician is obedient and cooperative during the questioning. "Taeil is currently fully cooperating with the police investigation.

The agency decided to remove the 30-year-old idol after conducting an investigation into the case and assessing that the situation was already quite severe. "While we were investigating the facts regarding this matter, we realized how chaotic the situation was and decided that Taeil could no longer continue his activities with the team (NCT)," SM Entertainment said.
"After discussing with Taeil, we have decided that he will be removed from the group," the agency continued. On Thursday August 29, 2024, the police announced that Taeil had been reported since June 2024 by the victim.
Since then, Taeil has been immediately investigated by the local police. The police also clarified that the victim who reported was an adult woman. However, the police are keeping the details of the sexual crime case involving Taeil under wraps.
