According to fashion magazine WWD (Women's Wear Daily) on Wednesday August 28, 2024, Prada has chosen K-pop idol Karina (member of South Korean girl group aespa) to join its brand ambassador team.
The Italian luxury brand is said to be diving deeper into the “K-pop phenomenon” with the addition of the 24-year-old K-pop star as an ambassador, after they appointed TWICE’s Sana and all seven members of boy band ENHYPEN as brand ambassadors late last year.
In addition, Korea currently has many stars taking on the position of Prada ambassador such as NCT's Jaehyun, Kim Tae Ri, Jeon Somi and Song Kang. Karina first attended a Prada show in January this year, sitting front row at the brand's men's fall 2024 collection during Milan Fashion Week.
After that, Karina also actively promoted Prada on her personal Instagram account with more than 21 million followers. Recently, Karina was featured on the cover of W Korea magazine in August 2024 by Prada.
Thus, all 4 members of the group aespa have been appointed as ambassadors for luxury fashion brands. Previously, NingNing was chosen as the global ambassador for Versace, Winter as the ambassador for Polo Ralph Lauren, and Giselle as the ambassador for LOEWE.
