Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield loudly called for support for Palestine during a promotional interview for his latest film , We Live in Time, in New York, United States. He appeared on a podcast called Happy Sad Confused hosted by Josh Horowitz.

In the interview, Horowitz asked the actor what role he wanted to do after completing his latest film. The actor then responded by appearing to support Palestine. He gave an answer by paying attention to the conditions of Palestinian citizens who were victims of Israeli aggression.

"We need to direct our energies to something more important," said Andrew Garfield, quoted by the Huffington Post. "Perhaps the lives of Palestinians and Gazans today, and anyone else suffering under the weight of the horrors of our world today."

"Maybe that's where we direct our hearts and our energies, and whoever is suffering, whoever is weak, whoever is suffering under the weight of the horrors of the world today, whoever doesn't have the option to live a life of dignity. That's where our energies should be directed at this time," he said.

The statement from the Spider-Man actor was then greeted with applause from the audience present at the live broadcast. The support given by the American actor actually happened since 2023. At that time, Garfield was one of many artists who signed the Artists4Ceasefire letter.

The letter was addressed to US President Joe Biden to influence a ceasefire in Gaza, Palestine. "We believe all life is sacred, regardless of faith or ethnicity, and we condemn the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians," the letter reads. This collective movement was formed on October 20, 2023 or two weeks after Israel carried out its first attack on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

Last September, the movement also called on the United States to stop supplying arms to Israel on the grounds of serious human rights violations. On the other hand, Israel's aggression against Palestine has claimed the lives of more than 41 thousand Palestinian citizens.
