BTS's J-Hope officially completed his military service on Thursday October 17, 2024. He finished after serving 18 months. J-Hope exited outside the main gate of the 36th Army Infantry Division training camp in Wonju, where he is assigned, at around 10 a.m. KST.

The musician's exit was also attended by another BTS member, Jin, who brought a large bouquet of flowers for J-Hope. Jin appeared wearing a red jacket and pants, complete with sunglasses. He was the only BTS member to welcome J-Hope home.

Meanwhile, Suga, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook still have to undergo their respective military service . J-Hope then saluted and waved at the journalists gathered there. "During my 18 months in the military, I served as an instructor and marched a lot, so I saw a lot of Wonju residents.

I want to thank the residents who welcomed and cheered on the soldiers. It was very touching," said J-Hope as reported by the Korea Times . "Thank you for your great support, encouragement and love. I have finished it healthy and well. During my service, I felt that the soldiers have worked hard, dedicated themselves and done so much for the country that protects them.

I think it would be more meaningful if the public showed such warm interest and love," he continued. J-Hope then got into a parked black minivan while singing the first line of a military song.  He continued to show his gratitude by blowing kisses through the car window until the vehicle drove away.

On the other hand, BIGHIT Music as BTS's agency has advised fans, familiarly known as ARMY, not to come to the location to avoid traffic jams due to density.  J-Hope became the second BTS member to enlist in April 2023 after Jin.

The musician, whose full name is Jung Ho-seok, served as an assistant drill instructor after his basic training. Meanwhile, Jin has already completed his military service since June 2024. He is currently preparing to release his solo debut album titled Happy on November 15, 2024.
