After a six-year hiatus due to controversy , the Victoria's Secret (VS) Fashion Show returned with a new format in New York City, United States, on Tuesday October 15, 2024. The opening performance by Gigi Hadid marked the moment.
The model and designer opened the show in a dress featuring the lingerie brand's iconic angel wings. Everything was pink. As she walked gracefully down the runway, the feathered wings opened by themselves. Stopping at the edge of the stage, she swayed her hips and stared out at the crowd.
The move, she said, was inspired by her friend, Taylor Swift. "I don't remember if it was ever done at a VS fashion show. But it's like what Taylor taught me on her tour," Gigi told Entertainment Tonight ahead of the show. Gigi previously walked in the VS runway in 2015, 2016, and 2018.
This was Gigi's first appearance since giving birth to her first daughter with Zayn Malik, Khai Malik, in September 2020. No less exciting than the previous show, the 2024 VS Fashion Show opened with BLACKPINK's Lisa's stage performance, studded with famous models.
In addition to Gigi, her sister, Bella Hadid, also appeared. Their seniors such as Kate Moss, Alessandra Ambrosio, and former French first lady Carla Bruni also appeared. Tyra Banks' return after 20 years was the finale of the event.
