Jumanji 3 is scheduled to hit theaters in 2026. The third Jumanji film will once again star Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black and will be released on December 11, 2026.
Variety reported on Monday October 28, 2024 that director Jake Kasdan is also said to be returning to direct Jumanji 3 after previously working on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).
As of now, there is no title or plot prepared for the upcoming film. However, the film will be produced by Matt Tolmach along with Jake Kasdan, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiran Garcia. The release plan comes after producer Hiram Garcia revealed the third Jumanji film in 2021.
At that time, he said he intended to work on it after Dwayne Johnson's latest film with Jake Kasdan titled Red One was released. "We have a big vision for the (next Jumanji) movie. So we're excited about that. We're going to be producing it soon.
And obviously the goal is sometime after... Jake does Red One for us, so that's going to be the next movie," Garcia said at the time. "Sometime after Red One comes out, Jumanji comes out. I think we'll start everything then and we'll be able to produce that third movie," he continued.
In 2023, Kevin Hart also said that Jumanji 3 would be the final film in the series, and would complete the relationship between his character and Dwayne Johnson. "We needed something big to close out our duo's story and not just leave it at that."
The Jumanji series starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart et al. began with the film Welcome to the Jungle which was released in 2017. The film was a success, grossing more than US$960 million at the global box office.
This achievement even made the film the fifth highest-grossing film in 2017. The story of a group of teenagers trapped in a video game was then continued in the second film titled The Next Level in 2019 which grossed more than US$800 million worldwide.
