Face Me is a Korean drama produced by KBS that stars Lee Min Ki as one of its main players. Carrying the mystery thriller genre, this drama tells the story of an unexpected collaboration between a cold plastic surgeon, Cha Jung Woo, and a passionate detective, Lee Min Hyung (Han Ji Hyun). They work together to solve crimes by utilizing reconstructive surgery for the victims.

In this drama, Lee Min Ki plays elite plastic surgeon Cha Jung Woo, who avoids emotional relationships with patients and only concentrates on his work. Cha Jung Woo doesn't offer pleasantries and won't even hold a nervous patient's hand. His decision to become a plastic surgeon and his mindset were shaped by a painful past that left lasting scars.

Lee Min Ki also explained the reason why he took on the role of Cha Jung Woo, who works as a plastic surgeon, saying, “Playing a plastic surgeon is a new experience for me. I was also interested in the various stories that unfold through reconstructive surgery for crime victims,” as quoted from Soompi on October 17, 2024.

The actor portrays Cha Jung Woo as a talented plastic surgeon who has emotionally closed himself off due to past events. He said, “One of my co-stars had a line that went, ‘He looks like someone who has decided not to be happy. I believe that line perfectly describes Jung Woo’s inner self.”

Regarding how he prepared to play a plastic surgeon, Lee Min Ki said, “Since I had to film several surgery scenes, I focused on studying and practicing the necessary skills.” When asked how closely he identified with the character Cha Jung Woo, the actor replied, “I focused on Jung Woo.

I sometimes find it difficult to communicate emotionally with others, so I think Jung Woo’s tendency to distance himself from patients and others is similar to mine.” The 39-year-old actor also recalled a memorable moment from Episode 1 when Jung Woo told a victim of dating violence, “Change ultimately comes from within.” He said, “This line also applies to Jung Woo himself, so it means a lot to me.”

In closing, Lee Min Ki concluded, “I will greet you soon through ‘Face Me.’ I am very excited to see how this new role and new story will resonate with viewers. Please look forward to it.” Meanwhile, Face Me will premiere on November 6, 2024 at 9:50 p.m. KST, following the conclusion of the currently airing KBS2 drama, Dog Knows Everything.
