Lee Min Ho was a guest star on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block" on December 25, 2024. On that occasion, the 1987-born actor responded to his embarrassing moment in the past when he fell on the red carpet of the Baeksang Arts Awards.
It is known that Lee Min Ho's name soared when he starred in the drama "Boys Over Flowers" in 2009 by playing the character Go Jun Pyo. His extraordinary acting made him nominated as the winner of the Best New Actor category TV.
Lee Min Ho recalled the enthusiastic moment when he was invited to attend the Baeksang Arts Awards. "It was my first time attending as Lee Min Ho, not Goo Jun Pyo, so I was excited and appeared with straight hair (unlike his character in the drama)," he said.
However, the night did not go according to Min Ho's plan. The reason is, the star of the drama "The Legend of the Blue Sea" tripped and fell on the red carpet. The moment immediately went viral and was made into so many memes by South Korean netizens.
Lee Min Ho recalled the moment, saying, "But that day, at my first Baeksang Arts Awards, I tripped. That moment created so many viral clips. Now, when I watch it, I think, 'How could I move so fast on the red carpet?'" he recalled.
Lee Min Ho realized that he felt less calm on the red carpet. "I had no calmness, no clarity of mind. Honestly, instead of feeling happy about winning an award, that day was very chaotic and very embarrassing for me," he continued.
On the other hand, Lee Min Ho was also asked about the reason for not appearing on variety shows for the past 16 years. "Aside from appearing as a newcomer on 'Star Golden Bell, this is the first time. People these days probably don't even know about Star Golden Bell," he said.
Lee Min Ho shared that he had trouble sleeping before appearing on a variety show. "I was worried that I might cause trouble. Honestly, I wasn't sure how I was going to do it," he said, making the two "You Quiz on the Block" MCs laugh.
Lee Min Ho then explained another reason for his reluctance to appear on variety shows. "Those shows seem too competitive. I think just because I'm somewhat known, if I join those shows, I won't be able to match the intensity," he continued.
Lee Min Ho also felt unsuited to appearing on healing-themed variety shows. "There are more healing-themed variety shows, but my own life has been so focused on healing that I wondered if I could really help others heal. 'You Quiz on the Block' felt very relaxing, like sharing a cup of tea," he concluded.
