WINNER's Mino has officially completed his mandatory military service amidst allegations that the idol was often absent during his duties. Yonhap news agency reported on Tuesday December 24, 2024, that a source claimed Mino had completed his military service on Monday December 23, 2024.
He served at the Mapo Resident Welfare Facility office. However, the idol and rapper reportedly did not show up for work on his last day of duty. Mino is believed to have been absent on his last day due to being on sick leave. His military service ended after Mino completed his duties in March 2023.
He served at the Mapo Facilities Management Office since March 24, 2023 before being transferred to the Mapo Residents Welfare Facility a year later. A few weeks before his military service ended, the musician, whose real name is Song Mino, was hit with accusations of being undisciplined during his service.
He was reported to have been absent from duty at the Mapo Residents' Welfare Facility. The allegations were revealed by a Dispatch report last week. The report also discussed a variety of issues, from Mino allegedly frequently missing work on medical leave to taking annual leave.
Dispatch even reported that attendance records at the office where Mino worked were still manual, making it easy to falsify. YG Entertainment, as the agency that manages Mino, has stated firmly that the musician always takes permission according to the rules.
The agency also said that Mino's medical clearance was a continuation of the treatment he had undergone before his military service. "It is difficult for us to confirm specific details regarding Song Mino's activities.
However, the medical clearance is an extension of the treatment he underwent before he began his service," YG Entertainment said, as reported by Sports Chosun via Naver on Tuesday December 17, 2024.
The Military Manpower Administration Office also spoke out on the controversy. It said it had begun investigating the report. The relevant agency also confirmed that it would impose punishment on WINNER's Mino if the rumors were proven true.
"After the news of Song Mino was released, the relevant departments began an investigation into allegations of attendance manipulation. We are currently investigating the situation," the Military Manpower Administration said, as reported by Sports Seoul on Tuesday December 17, 2024.
