BLACKPINK Jisoo's agency, BLISSOO, spoke up about the news regarding the musician who is rumored to be making a solo comeback in February 2025. The agency emphasized that it could not yet confirm the news of the BLACKPINK member's comeback.
The statement came after a number of local media outlets reported that Jisoo would be the next BLACKPINK member to make a solo comeback. "It's hard to say for sure," said BLISSOO, as reported by OSEN on Friday January 10, 2025.
The statement also responded to OSEN's report which reported that the idol whose full name is Kim Ji-soo is currently busy preparing for a solo comeback. It is rumored that he will return to the stage with a release target of February 2025.
If the report is true, the upcoming solo comeback will be Jisoo's first in two years after the musician released her single album titled Me on March 31, 2023. The single album contains the songs Flower and All Eyes on Me. The release even ranked first on the Circle Album Chart in its first week of release.
Flower also became a popular hit single on the international scene, even managing to reach second place on the Billboard Global 200. On the other hand, Jisoo is actively making a comeback as an actress for a number of projects, starting from The Prophet: Omniscient Reader which also stars Lee Min-ho, Ahn Hyo-seop, Chae Soo-bin, and Nana.
The Prophet: Omniscient Reader is planned to air in 2025. In addition, Jisoo was also chosen as the main character for a Korean drama using a zombie outbreak setting entitled Newtopia. She plays a character named Kang Young-joo, Lee Jae-yoon's (Park Jeong-min) girlfriend who is on military duty.
Newtopia is a collaboration between screenwriter Han Ji-won, who previously wrote the screenplay for Parasite with Bong Joon-ho, and Ji Ho-ji. The two will also work with director Yoon Sung-hyun who previously produced Bleak Night and Time Hunt.
The series also reunites Park Jeong-min and Jisoo after both of them separately starred in Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman (2023). At that time, Park Jeong-min was a shaman, while Jisoo was a Taoist goddess. Newtopia is set to air on Prime Video on February 7, 2025.
