Darren Wang is again facing new charges. The Taiwanese actor is now being charged with attempted murder. The charges were added by the New Taipei District Prosecutors' Office on Tuesday March 4, 2025, after the 33-year-old actor was suspected of being involved in an incident of assault on a driver and a dispatcher.
According to UDN and Taiwan News, the allegations came after Wang returned to Taiwan from a trip. He then reportedly booked an airport pick-up through an online taxi platform. However, Wang was allegedly dissatisfied with the service he received, including the quality of the vehicle he used.
After that, Wang was suspected of being the mastermind behind the assault on a driver and a dispatcher because of his dissatisfaction. The driver and dispatcher were also reported to have sustained serious injuries. Wang's agent then responded to a media request for comment on the news.
As reported by Taiwan News, he said, "we are in the process of investigating the situation." Meanwhile, Liberty Times itself reported that a source from the New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office revealed that the agency ordered police to conduct searches at four locations, on Tuesday March 4, 2025.
Darren Wang and another suspect were also detained for questioning over the alleged assault. This latest case also extends the legal case that Darren Wang is currently facing after in February 2025 he was caught up in allegations of evading military service .
Wang and nine others were then arrested and it was discovered that he had spent a lot of money to make false claims that he had a heart condition in order to avoid military service. Wang was later released on bail of NT$150,000 (US$5,700) and is still scheduled to do his military service.
He is expected to start his military service on March 13, 2025, for a year. However, following the recent case of alleged assault and attempted murder , it is still unknown whether Darren Wang will be required to serve in the military.
Darren Wang is a Taiwanese actor who has been actively pursuing a career since 2008. The actor, whose full name is Darren Wang Talu, made his acting debut by starring in the series Mysterious Incredible Terminator (2008) as a cameo.
