Famous Hollywood actor Robert Pattinson has finally spoken out about the long-awaited Batman 2 project. The actor answered a fan question by revealing that Batman 2 will begin filming later this year. He will play Bruce Wayne in the Batman film.
"I start the story as a young Batman and I'm really going to be an old Batman in the sequel," Robert Pattinson said as reported by Gamesradar. Some time ago, he had revealed that Batman 2 was filming at the end of this year. Meanwhile, the film itself will be scheduled for 2027. The upcoming film comes after the release of the first film in 2022.
"I knew what the movie was going to be about. Maat (Reeves) is a very careful writer, but I eventually knew what it was going to be about," said the Mickey 17 actor. Previously, news of the release of Batman 2 had been delayed several times since it was announced in 2022. Initially, the hero film was scheduled to air in 2026.
However, after receiving definite news that Batman 2 will only start filming at the end of this year, the release date was also confirmed to fall on October 1, 2027. The news then made fans feel disappointed until DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn issued an official statement via the Threads account.
He argued that long gaps between one film and its sequel are common things that often happen. "(The gap) 7 years between Alien and Aliens. 14 years between Incredibles. 7 years between the first two Terminators. 13 years between Avatars. 36 years between Top Guns.
And of course, 6 years between Guardians Vol 3 and Vol 3," Gunn wrote, as reported by the Huffington Post. The Batman (2022) film tells the story of the beginning of Bruce Wayne's (Robert Pattinson) journey as he works to become the greatest detective and is continuing his second year as The Dark Knight.
Wayne tries to uncover a massive corruption case in Gotham City while chasing the Riddler (Paul Dano), a notorious serial killer. The Batman film also stars other famous players, such as Andy Serkis, Zoë Kravitz, and Jeffrey Wright.
