Lee Byung Hun was a guest star on the DdeunDdeun YouTube channel on March 15, 2025. On that occasion, the actor born in 1970 honestly responded to his viral meme. Lee Byung Hun admitted, "Honestly, at first I was embarrassed and felt guilty (about the viral meme), but then I decided to just accept it.
I thought, 'I'll make it stand out more. I'll show more.'" Lee Byung Hun also mentioned that directors try to subtly incorporate dance moves into his films. He shared an unexpected scene in his upcoming project with director Park Chan Wook, "There's a dance scene in the film.
It's something you would never expect, and personally, I liked it." Next, Lee Byung Hun explained how comedian Shin Dong Yup managed to convince him to guest star on "SNL Korea." "Shin Dong Yup's persistence is on another level. He actually stayed at my house for three nights," he said.
Recalling the moment, Byung Hun said, "One day, he suddenly showed up at my place with four bottles of wine. When he opened the third bottle, I knew something was wrong, so I told him to stop. Sure enough, he immediately said 'SNL Korea.'"
Despite being close friends with Don Yup, Byung Hun was initially afraid of being exposed to the public as having panic disorder. "I feel anxious when I perform on stage or on live broadcasts. It makes me feel exposed. I keep thinking, 'What if I suddenly have a panic attack on air?'," said the actor.
Lee Byung Hun admitted why he felt anxious about performing on stage or live broadcasts. "As an actor, I feel comfortable playing a role. However, when I introduce myself as 'Lee Byung Hun,' I start to feel short of breath," he continued.
However, Dong Yup's relentless persuasion continued. "He came back the next night, stayed until 2 a.m., and I still refused. Then, the next day, he rang my doorbell. Since I usually stay home when I'm not filming, he knew I would be there," the "Squid Game" star shared.
Eventually, Lee Byung Hun gave in. "I realized there was no way out, so I just said, 'Okay, I'll do it,'" he said. Reflecting on his decision, he added, "Because I couldn't say no, I've become a living meme factory now." On that occasion, Lee Byung Hun also shared a touching story about his son.
"Last year, I decided to show my film to my son for the first time. There was even a special exhibition where they showed one of my films every day for a week," he said. Lee Byung Hun was deeply touched when his son started crying while watching the movie.
"His eyes were swollen from crying so much. I thought, 'Wow, he's really immersed in the movie,'" he added. However, when Byung Hun asked what part made him cry, his son unexpectedly replied, "It wasn't Dad's scene, Dad. It was when Captain Do died."
