Park Bo Gum is still greeting the public through the drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines". The actor plays the character Yang Gwan Sik, a man who has been attracted to Ae Sun (IU) since childhood and eventually marries her.
In "When Life Gives You Tangerines," Park Bo Gum proves his wide acting spectrum by expressing everything from the young Gwan Sik who is recklessly in love with Ae Sun to a father who devotes himself to his family. Many people shed tears while watching the warm family drama that was born after a long time.
One of those who cried while watching "When Life Gives You Tangerines" was Park Bo Gum himself. In a recent interview, Park Bo Gum revealed which scene in "When Life Gives You Tangerines" made him cry. "Isn't every scene a masterpiece and every line a masterpiece?" Park Bo Gum said.
"If I had to pick one scene that made me cry, it would be the scene in Act 3 when Gwan Sik (Park Hae Joon) and Ae Sun (Moon So Ri) were setting out the dishes in their quiet home and Geum Myeong (IU came to their house," he said.
"The scene where my beloved child has grown up and is independent, but she comes unannounced because she misses her parents. When her daughter comes, she turns on the kettle and the stove, makes her her favorite side dishes... Every scene she shows through her actions makes me cry," she said.
Previously, Park Bo Gum also reflected on the challenges of playing the multi-layered character of Gwan Sik. Known for his clean visuals, the actor admitted that he had to gain about 4–5 kg for the role.
Park Bo Gum underwent makeup to look darker with rough skin. "The director and makeup team darkened my skin all over my face, arms, legs because Gwan Sik lived under the hot Jeju sun for so long. They wanted him to look down to earth and familiar," he said.
"To be honest, I look wider, but my face still looks slim. It's an interesting contrast," Park Bo Gum added. The actor also shared his unforgettable experience while filming a swimming scene in the open sea in the drama.
Meanwhile, Park Bo Gum hopes to work with the scriptwriter of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" again. "I really want to work with writer Lim Sang Choon again. I want to ask, 'Will you cast me one more time?'," he concluded.
