Park Bo Young is ready to captivate the hearts of the audience again through her latest drama entitled Our Unwritten Seoul. In this romantic drama, she will play two main characters at once, namely Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae, a pair of identical twin sisters who live very different lives.

Not only that, Park Bo Young's challenge is even greater because she also has to play each sister's version as they pretend to be each other. In total, she will play four sides of the character in one drama. This drama tells the story of an identity swap that is based on lies after lies.

When Mi Ji and Mi Rae decide to live as each other, they not only try to cover up each other's wounds, but also indirectly find the true meaning of love and life. The emotional storyline immediately caught Park Bo Young's attention when she first read the script.

She took on a new challenge by playing four roles—she'll be playing twins, each pretending to be the other. Reflecting on her first impression of the drama script, Park Bo Young said, “The story of two sisters, Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae, felt special.

I thought this could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and, in a way, a great opportunity for my acting career,” as quoted by Soompi on Tuesday (5/13/2025). The actress admitted that she was very impressed with one quote from the script: "I will live as you, and you will live as me."

The line is the crux of the story and illustrates the emotional bond between the two sisters. She said she was very curious about where the story would end and how the characters would develop over time. Park Bo Young also revealed that the script by writer Lee Kang was very touching.

According to her, the strength of the story lies in how these characters deal with their inner wounds, while continuing to grow. This emotional depth made her believe that this project was one of the valuable opportunities in her acting journey.

Despite their physical similarities, Mi Ji and Mi Rae have very different personalities. Mi Ji is described as more cheerful and spontaneous, while Mi Rae is more calm and determined. Park Bo Young explained that even though they pretend to be each other, there are still subtle differences that observant viewers can pick up on.

To create this contrast, he and the director had many in-depth discussions. "Mi Ji is a bit more playful, while Mi Rae is more calm. That's the most striking difference between the two," she said. The main challenge for Park Bo Young was to ensure that even though the two characters were pretending to be siblings, there was still a layer of genuine personality implied in her acting.

The actress who is known for her natural and flexible acting skills is indeed not new to the South Korean entertainment world. She started her career at the age of 16 in the drama Secret Campus (2006), and began to be widely known thanks to her role as a teenage mother in the box office film Scandal Makers (2008), which brought her various prestigious awards.

Her journey has not always been smooth. In 2010, she went on hiatus due to legal disputes with her management and production company. However, she bounced back through the film A Werewolf Boy (2012) and then recorded a series of iconic roles such as in the dramas Oh My Ghost (2015) and Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (2017), which made her one of the highest-paid Korean drama actresses.

In the following years, Park Bo Young continued to show consistency in choosing challenging and diverse projects. The film On Your Wedding Day (2018) and the drama Doom at Your Service (2021) added to her list of commercially and critically successful works.

She was also involved in Concrete Utopia (2023), a disaster film that represented South Korea at the 96th Academy Awards. Most recently, her appearance in the Netflix series Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023) once again proved her capacity as a top actress.

Through this role, she managed to win the Best Actress award at the Blue Dragon Series Awards, confirming that her ability to get into character continues to grow over time. Back to Our Unwritten Seoul, Park Bo Young gave the audience a challenge. She said jokingly, "Watch carefully and try to guess whether I'm playing Mi Ji or Mi Rae in every scene."

This statement certainly sparked curiosity and made the drama even more interesting to follow. The drama also raises reflective themes about sibling relationships, mutual trust, and how one must finally face personal pain that has been hidden for so long.

“They think they know everything about each other,” Park Bo Young said. "But when they exchange lives, it is each other's wounds that are exposed and become a mirror for them to grow." Anticipation for Our Unwritten Seoul is growing as its premiere is scheduled for May 24, 2025 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
