Social media has recently been abuzz with the attitude of South Korean presidential candidate number 02, Kim Moon So, who used the poster design for the Korean drama 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' to campaign.
The poster was uploaded by Kim Moon So on his social media. The poster features Kim Moon So and his wife, Seol Nan Young parodying the When Life Gives You Tangerines poster. " For you who are still like flower petals and still dreaming.
When Life Gives You Tangerines, big release on June 2, 2025!, " wrote Kim Moon So in the upload, quoted Tuesday June 3, 2025. On the poster, IU and Park Bo Gum's faces have been replaced with the faces of Kim Moon So and his wife. Widely discussed on social media, Netflix finally gave a clarification.
Netflix told OSEN that Kim Moon So did not ask for permission or consult with Netflix about the parody poster. "We have seen promotional materials (from presidential candidate Kim Moon So) that parody When Life Gives You Tangerines, but there was no prior consultation with us.
We are currently observing as more parodies are being produced," a Netflix representative said. Most fans of the drama are known to not accept the use of the When Life Gives You Tangerines poster as part of the Korean presidential candidate's campaign material.
They demanded that the drama not be used for politics or campaigning.
Kim Moon So previously also courted controversy when he used popular phrases and gestures from world-class e-sports player Faker without permission, but it was quickly deleted.
In this case, many Korean drama fans did not accept the parody poster being used as part of Kim Moon So's campaign, especially since it was revealed that presidential candidate number 02 did not ask for permission or consult with Netflix.
