Lee Joon Gi Will Make a Comeback in a Korean Drama entitled 'Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency'

Lee Joon Gi is reportedly considering accepting an offer for a new Korean drama with a Joseon historical era theme. According to a MyDaily report on Wednesday July 23, 2025, Lee Joon Gi has been selected as the main character in the detective comedy drama entitled Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency (literal title).

Responding to this, a representative from Lee Joon Gi's agency gave a statement. "This is a project he is currently reviewing," said a representative from Namoo Actors. Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency is a comedy investigative action drama about a king chasing a case and a new royal inspector chasing the king.

This drama follows the story of King Hyejong, a master detective who can get anything he wants with just a flick of his hand and flaunts his power in the kingdom. Then there's Lee Seo, a new inspector who learns everything from romance to social skills from books, but his memory is unmatched.

Lee Joon Gi was reportedly offered the role of King Hyejong, an arrogant and sharp-tongued ruler, the supreme ruler of the peaceful Joseon era. He spends his days investigating various cases.

 He is known for openly insulting people to their faces, with a relentless sarcasm that cuts as sharp as a knife. If the offer is accepted, this drama will mark Lee Joon Gi's return to starring in a Saeguk drama in three years since Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun  in 2023.
