GOT7's Yugyeom will begin his military service on September 29, 2025. This news was announced by AOMG via their official social media accounts on Saturday August 23, 2025.
In a statement, AOMG stated that Yugyeom has been cleared as a "specialized soldier" by the South Korean Military Manpower Administration. He will undergo basic military training before serving in the South Korean Army's military band.
In a handwritten letter posted on his personal social media account, Yugyeom conveyed a message to GOT7's fans, known as IGOT7 or Agase. "I will enlist in the military healthily and carefully for the sake of our country," Yugyeom wrote.
He also promised to return with a better performance and a more engaging album, while asking fans to listen to his songs if they miss him. "If you miss him, listen to my songs. I'll be back soon with even more amazing work," he added.
As GOT7's maknae and AOMG's solo artist, Yugyeom has had a stellar career. He successfully launched the 'TRUSTY' world tour, solidifying his position as a global solo artist. In June 2025, Yugyeom released his second solo album, 'Interlunar,' which received rave reviews from fans worldwide.
Ahead of his military enlistment, Yugyeom delivered an emotional message through 'Interlunar,' comparing his hiatus to the phases of the moon, temporarily invisible but bound to shine again.
