The renowned British fashion magazine, Elle UK, has finally issued an apology regarding the controversy that arose after cropping a photo of BLACKPINK's Rose from a group photo at the Paris Fashion Week event.
However, the excuse of "size issues" put forward in the apology sparked further outrage from fans. On October 2, 2025, Elle UK issued an apology via its official Instagram account. "We sincerely apologize for the cropping of BLACKPINK's Rosé's photo from the Paris Fashion Week post due to size issues," they wrote.
They also stated that there was no intention to offend anyone, while confirming that the post has been removed and they are committed to creating content that better represents their readers in the future. The controversy began on October 1, 2025, when Elle UK posted a group photo from Saint Laurent's Spring/Summer 2026 collection at Paris Fashion Week.
The photo featured model Hailey Bieber, actress Zoë Kravitz, and singer Charli XCX, but Rose, who was standing on the right, was cropped out. Ironically, Rose is the only Saint Laurent global ambassador among them, so this cut sparked accusations of “unreasonable editing” from fans.
The outrage escalated when Charli XCX posted a photo on her social media account showing Rose's face darkened without a flash. Although Charli later posted a photo of herself with Rose, this failed to quell accusations that Rose was being deliberately ostracized.
In response to the criticism, Elle UK later posted a solo photo of Rose accompanied by a fashion analysis, praising her stunning look with a silk romper, black stockings, strappy sandals, and gold bracelets. However, at the bottom of the post, they again cited "size issues" as the reason for the cut, which was seen as an act of simply covering up mistakes without sincerity.
