Suzy and Kim Seon Ho were forced to cancel filming for the Korean drama "Delusion" in China. This was allegedly due to the controversy surrounding the Korean drama "Tempest," starring Jun Ji Hyun.

On Wednesday October 15, 2025, Disney+ Hotstar representatives released an official statement confirming a report by Korean media outlet OSEN. The production team of the Korean drama "Delusion" is now having to find an alternative filming location, even though part of the plot is set in Shanghai, China.

The main actors of the Korean drama "Delusion," Suzy and Kim Seon Ho, were originally scheduled to fly to China to begin filming earlier this month. However, due to a sudden change in circumstances, the production team will prioritize filming scenes set in South Korea.

Like "Tempest," "Delusion" is a Disney+ Hotstar drama. "The filming location for the Korean drama Delusion is still under review. Nothing has been set yet and it is difficult to confirm a new filming location," said the production team of the Korean drama Delusion, as reported by Koreaboo.

The controversy surrounding the Korean drama Tempest began with the fourth episode, which aired on Wednesday (September 17, 2025). In the episode, Jun Ji Hyun's character, Seo Moon Ju, a UN ambassador, said, "Why does China prefer war? A nuclear bomb could fall on the border."

Jun Ji Hyun's dialogue immediately sparked debate among Chinese netizens. Many believed the production team of the Korean drama "Tempest" intended to portray their country negatively. Netizens' anger peaked when they realized the location depicted as Dalian looked rundown and was edited darker.

There's also a scene in the Korean drama Tempest that shows a carpet patterned with the Chinese five-pointed star symbol being stepped on. Jun Ji Hyun was also accused of deliberately mispronouncing the work of the legendary Tang Dynasty Chinese poet Li Bai.

Adapted from a webtoon, the Korean drama Delusion follows the story of Yun Iho (played by Kim Seon Ho), a painter who is commissioned to draw a mysterious woman who has not been seen in public for over half a century, Song Jeong Hwa (played by Suzy).

The Korean drama "Delusion" is directed by Han Jae Rim, the director behind "Emergency Declaration" and "The 8 Show." Its premiere is highly anticipated as it marks the reunion of Suzy and Kim Seon Ho after their collaboration in "Start Up" (2020).
