South Korean actor Yeo Jin Goo announced the news of his mandatory military service. The announcement was made via a handwritten letter. He penned a touching tribute to the fans who have faithfully supported and accompanied him throughout his career.

"Hello, this is Yeo Jin Goo!!! As I write this letter, my heart is filled with gratitude, joy, and a little sadness. The time has come for me to leave you for a while and start a new experience. Being able to look into your eyes and laugh together during my last Asia tour before my military service has been a very precious memory for me!!," wrote Yeo Jin Goo.

"Looking back, from the beginning of my journey as an actor until now, you, the fans, have always watched over me and supported me relentlessly. Thanks to your warm love and support, I am able to continue moving forward—entertained, inspired, and full of enthusiasm," he continued.

The Hotel del Luna actor promised to return with a different image after completing military training. Yeo Jin Goo also urged fans to rewatch his dramas and variety shows to soothe their longing. "Even though we're apart for a while, I promise to come back as a stronger and more mature person! 

I'll take care of myself both physically and mentally, and come back with deeper and stronger acting. Please stay healthy, eat well, and live happily during this time!!!," the actor wrote. "Oh, and don't be too sad!! You still have 30 dramas, variety shows, and 20 movies to remember Yeo Jin Goo by!!! 

Whenever you miss me, just rewatch them while waiting for me (you will be waiting, right?) - I'll be so grateful! Until we meet again, I'll be back as a better version of myself," he concluded. Yeo Jin Goo debuted as a child actor in the 2005 film Sad Movie , earning him the nickname "Nation's Little Brother." 

Jin Goo then shed his child actor status and starred in other dramas and films featuring more mature characters. He last starred in the film Hijack in 2024 as Yong Dae. Meanwhile for Korean dramas, Yeo Jin Goo last starred in Link: Eat, Love, Kill in 2022 with Moon Ga Young.
