Cha Eun Woo's agency, Fantagio, has finally released an official statement in response to reports of alleged tax evasion that have implicated the artist. This statement came after a media outlet reported that Cha Eun Woo was billed additional taxes of over 20 billion won by South Korea's National Tax Service (NTS).

In its official statement on Thursday January 22, 2026, Fantagio emphasized that the main issue in this case is the difference of viewpoint regarding the status of the company founded by Cha Eun Woo's mother (referred to as Company A).

"The main issue in this matter is whether the company founded by Cha Eun Woo's mother is included in the category of entities subject to substantive taxation or not," explained Fantagio. The agency emphasized that, as of now, there has been no final decision or official notification regarding the fine.

They plan to provide further clarification through the applicable legal procedures. Previously, Cha Eun Woo was suspected of using Company A to split his income in order to obtain a lower tax rate.

Tax authorities suspected the company of being a paper company because it was deemed not to have provided any real services for Cha Eun Woo's entertainment activities. However, Fantagio assured that the artist will cooperate throughout the investigation.

"To ensure this process is completed as quickly as possible, our artist and his tax representatives will diligently cooperate with the investigation," the agency added. In closing, Fantagio assured that its artist remains fully committed to his legal obligations.

As a good citizen, Cha Eun Woo will continue to faithfully fulfill his tax returns and other legal obligations. Currently, Cha Eun-woo is still carrying out his mandatory military service in the Army Music Corps since July last year and is scheduled to be discharged on January 27, 2027.
