American actor Robert Carradine has passed away at the age of 71. According to Deadline, Robert Carradine struggled with bipolar disorder for two decades. His family announced the sad news in a statement.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Robert Carradine's father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. In a world that felt dark, Bobby was a ray of sunshine for everyone around him," the actor's family said in a statement.
"We mourn the loss of a beautiful soul and want to shed light on Bobby's struggle with bipolar disorder. We hope this journey will shine a light on the stigma often associated with mental illness," he said.
Born in March 1952, Robert Carradine was the son of actor John Carradine. He made his acting debut in the 1972 film The Cowboys. However, he got his first starring role in the film Revenge of the Nerds in 1984.
Then, he became increasingly known to the public as Lizzie McGuire's father in the film Lizzie McGuire. Actress Hillary Duff, who plays the child in the film, issued a statement. She said, "This is incredibly painful. It's hard to face the reality of this friend.
There's so much warmth in McGuire, and I've always felt protected by my on-screen parents. I'm forever grateful for that." "I'm heartbroken to hear that Bobby is struggling. My heart breaks for him, his family, and everyone who loves him," said Hillary Duff.
