BLACKPINK's Jisoohas once again stolen the spotlight outside the music scene. This time, she received the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award at the 2026 Cannes International Series Festival, or Canneseries.
Adapted from Yonhap, on Friday, April 24, 2026, the festival organizers announced the award on Friday, April 24. Jisoo received the award directly in Cannes, France, on Thursday local time. The organizers assessed Jisoo's ability to maintain two career paths simultaneously: music and acting.
She is also said to continue expanding her filmography through diverse roles and formats. “With his international reach, screen presence, and ongoing artistic development, he remains a prominent and promising figure in contemporary Korean and global entertainment,” Canneseries said on its official website.
In March, Jisoo's latest series, Boyfriend on Demand, premiered on Netflix. In the series, she plays Mi-rae, a webtoon producer exhausted by work pressures who seeks romance through a virtual dating subscription service.
This award solidifies Jisoo's position as one of the Korean idols seriously pursuing acting. She not only brings BLACKPINK's fame to the table, but is also beginning to be recognized for her screen work and choice of roles. Canneseries 2026 runs from April 23–28, 2026.
Established in 2018, the annual festival showcases television series from various countries through four official programs: Competition, Short Form Competition, Documentary Series Competition, and Out-of-Competition. The festival also features a Rendez-Vous program, a non-competitive curation session.
