Choi Woo Shik recently issued an explanation and apology regarding accusations that he ignored a Black fan at the Paris Fashion Show. In an Instagram Story post on June 28, 2026, Choi said, "Sorry if I missed you! I tried to sign as many autographs as I could, but time was just too short.

I really hope we can meet again next time." (Sorry if I missed you! I tried to sign as many autographs as I could, but time was just too short. I really hope we can meet again next time.)

The allegations arose after a Black woman posted a video on social media on June 26, 2026, recounting her experience of racial discrimination from an actor at the event.

In the video, she stated that she brought posters and signs to get an autograph from an actor she liked, but the actor left after signing for another fan without making eye contact with her. "I had the worst experience at a Paris Fashion Show," she wrote.

"I'm not one to say, 'This is racism.' But this felt so weird. My hands are still shaking." She continued, "I didn't go with any expectations to begin with. Even if he didn't sign my stuff, it wouldn't have mattered.

What I didn't understand was that he came right in front of me and just signed for another fan. I was the only Black person there." Although the actor's face was blurred in the video, many immediately identified it as Choi Woo Shik .

However, another video later surfaced showing Choi signing an autograph for another Black fan, leading many to question the allegations. Some also pointed out that the atmosphere at the event seemed crowded and chaotic, suggesting that Choi may have missed some fans in the crowd.

Some argued that accusing Choi of racism based on the short clip could be considered a witch hunt, especially considering that she had previously participated in Blackout Tuesday, a campaign against racial discrimination.

Meanwhile, Choi is currently filming the latest tvN drama, "Whale Star." Adapted from a webtoon of the same name, the drama is set during the Korean independence movement during the Japanese occupation.

The story follows a man who gives everything for his country and a woman who risks her life to protect it. Choi plays Kang Eui Hyun, a freedom fighter whose father was a pro-Japanese collaborator.
