South Korean model and actress Jung Hoyeon is potentially returning to Netflix in a new Korean drama. She has been offered a role in the Korean drama Outback, which is now confirmed to star Ryu Jun Yeol.

As reported by JTBC on Wednesday (July 22, 2026), Hoyeon's management, BH Entertainment, provided clarification. They confirmed the offer. "It's true he has received an offer for the Outback. She is currently in the process of considering the offer," they said in a statement.

Outback, the working title, is a mystery-thriller adapted from the webtoon Gudai, a webcomic by Han Kyoung Chal published by Lezhin Comics. The story focuses on a young man named Si On who travels to Australia to search for his missing sister. There, he meets a strange man named Hans.

Ryu Jun Yeol is being touted as the lead role of Si On, while actor Hong Kyung is rumored to be playing Hans. Outback was handed over to Shortcake, the production company that previously worked on the series Weak Hero. Director Jeon Doo Kwan was tapped to helm the production.

Previously, Jeon Doo Kwan was known through the TVING series Scene: Strange Tales (2021) and Tender & Witch (2017). Jung Hoyeon is currently appearing on the big screen in South Korean cinemas in Na Hong Jin's film "Hope."

This marks the Squid Game actress' big-screen debut. Recently, Hoyeon also stole the spotlight at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. She participated in the trophy presentation ceremony at the World Cup final, as a global ambassador.
