A photo allegedly showing former EXO member Kris Wu experiencing dramatic weight gain in prison has gone viral online. The photo, which appeared on Chinese social media platform Weibo, shows Kris with a bald head and wearing a red checkered shirt.

His face appears rounder with a double chin, a stark departure from his previously sharp features. Some netizens left comments like, "Is prison food really that good?" and "How well do they feed him to gain so much weight?"

However, the authenticity of the photo was questioned, as critics pointed out that it was suspicious for an inmate to be wearing civilian clothes. This prompted netizens to search for the original photo from which the image was allegedly taken.

The original photo believed to be the source is a picture of Kris Wu during an interview with Chinese media outlet Sohu in 2015. The red plaid shirt he is wearing in the photo matches the one in the circulating image, supporting claims that the viral photo is a digital edit that altered his body shape.

Some netizens explained that this image is from a previously popular online edited video. Therefore, claims that Kris Wu gained significant weight during his detention appear to remain unverified.

Additionally, rumors circulated online that Kris Wu was involved in a food dispute with another inmate and was bullied for his frequent singing. However, these reports have not been confirmed. Kris Wu, born in 1990 in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, is a Canadian singer and actor.

He debuted in 2012 as a member of EXO and its unit EXO-M under the name Kris, before leaving the group to pursue a music and acting career primarily in China. Kris Wu was arrested in China in 2021 on charges of sexual assault and sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2022 for the crime and related offenses.

He was reportedly scheduled to be deported from China after completing his sentence. Recently, rumors circulated about Kris Wu's death earlier this year in a detention facility in Beijing, but these reports have not been officially confirmed.
